If the Netflix app or the video you're trying to watch looks zoomed in or cropped on the top or edges, it usually means there's an incorrect video output setting on your device. Follow the troubleshooting steps for your device below to resolve the issue.

Amazon Fire TV/Stick

Turn off the Screen Magnifier setting

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, select Settings.

  2. On the next screen, scroll to the right and select Accessibility.

  3. Select Screen Magnifier to change this option to OFF.

  4. Try Netflix again.

Google Chrome

Adjust Chrome's zoom settings

  1. In Chrome, select the Menu icon.

  2. Next to Zoom, use the + and - buttons to set your zoom to 100%.

  3. Try Netflix again.

Turn off Hardware Acceleration

  1. Select the Chrome menu button from your browser toolbar.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Advanced.

  4. Under System, locate Use hardware acceleration when available and move the slider to the off position.

  5. Try Netflix again.

Mozilla Firefox

PlayStation 3

Configure your PlayStation 3's video output settings

  1. Begin at the PlayStation home screen.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select Display Settings.

  4. Select Video Output Settings.

  5. Select your TV to PlayStation connection (Component , Composite, or HDMI).

  6. Select Automatic.

  7. Select Yes to confirm the settings.

  8. Follow the prompt to save the settings.

  9. Select Finish to complete the video setup.

  10. Try Netflix again.

Troubleshoot your device connections

If you have frequent video issues with every title you try to watch on Netflix, try the troubleshooting steps below. Your issue may be coming from the device you're using to stream, the TV or receivers you're streaming to, or the cables that connect them all together.

  1. Streaming Device or TV:

    • If the picture is stretched or cut off, changing the screen resolution on the TV or streaming device may resolve the issue.

    • If the picture is too large or too small, try zooming in or out if your TV has that option.

  2. Other equipment:

    • Bypass any receivers by connecting the streaming device directly to your TV.

      • You can do this by simply tracing the HDMI cable from the streaming device to wherever it's plugged in. Unplug the HDMI cable from any receiver it may be plugged into and plug it directly into the TV.

  3. Cables

    • If you're using an HDMI cable, try reversing the ends, or try a new HDMI cable.

    • If you're connecting via an HDMI cable, try another HDMI port on your TV.

    • Switching from HDMI to a component or composite audio/video cable may correct some display issues.

  6. If available, try an HDMI port on another TV.

Make sure your video drivers are up to date

You may need to update your computer's video driver, or install a video driver supported by Windows 10.

Netflix Customer Service can't help with these steps. If you aren't comfortable doing them by yourself, contact your computer's manufacturer for help.

  • If your computer uses a graphics card or GPU, use the software that was installed with the card to update its video driver.

    Note:

    AMD and NVIDIA are the most common producers of GPUs and GPU software.

  • If an update didn't work or there were no updates available, uninstall the driver and reinstall it.

  • If there is no video driver for your computer that is supported by Windows 10, try playing Netflix with a different device or browser, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera.
